I’m curious if they thought he was innocent or if they felt he was not guilty due to reasonable doubt.
Big difference.
In one sense Justice won’t have been met.
On the other hand Justice has been upheld…

It really doesn’t make any difference. The correct legal standard is “reasonable doubt” and that was obviously the case. The only one who really knows what happened that night who is still alive is Zimmerman. For the rest of us who don’t know for sure, reasonable doubt is the only reasonable conclusion.
Consider – even if Zimmerman was guilty of something, justice was still served. Justice is always served when we follow the correct principles of justice. Those principles say that sometimes people do get away with bad things because we don’t have sufficient evidence to find them guilty.
Just to be clear, I don’t believe Zimmerman got away with anything and strongly suspect he was “profiled” by the justice system as a white man killing a black man and the impetus of the government to always think a white man is guilty if something bad happens to a minority person.
